UNDERSTANDING DENTURES

What Are Dentures?

Dentures are removable dental appliances custom-made to replace missing teeth and the surrounding gum tissue. They are one of the most established and widely used solutions in restorative dentistry, offering a reliable and accessible way to restore your smile and oral function.
Modern dentures are far more comfortable and natural-looking than older generations of prosthetics, using high-quality materials precision-designed to suit each individual patient. Whether you have lost all of your teeth or just a few, there is a solution designed specifically for you. Full dentures replace an entire arch of missing teeth, whilst partial dentures fill the gaps left by one or several missing teeth.
For patients seeking maximum stability, implant-retained dentures are also available.

Got Questions?

Frequently Asked Questions About Dentures

Are dentures in London suitable for me?

Dentures are an excellent solution for patients who have lost multiple teeth or an entire arch of teeth, and are looking for a reliable, accessible way to restore their smile and oral function. Whether you are missing a few teeth or all of them, we offer full and partial denture options tailored to your individual needs. A consultation with Dr Reza Eslami will confirm the most appropriate solution for your situation.

How long do dentures last?

With proper care, a well-made set of dentures typically lasts between five and ten years. Over time, the shape of your gums and jaw bone naturally changes, which can affect the fit of your dentures — making regular check-ups and periodic relining or replacement important for ongoing comfort and function.

Are dentures uncomfortable to wear?

Modern custom-made dentures are designed to fit as closely and comfortably as possible. An initial adjustment period is normal, and some patients experience mild soreness as their mouth adapts. Follow-up appointments allow your dentist to make any refinements needed to improve comfort and fit.

Will my dentures look natural?

Yes. Our dentures are individually crafted in a specialist dental laboratory using high-quality materials, with each tooth carefully selected and arranged to match your facial features and create the most natural-looking smile possible.

Can I eat normally with dentures?

Yes, although it is advisable to start with softer foods as you adjust to wearing your new dentures and gradually reintroduce a wider range of foods over time. Well-fitted dentures restore a significant degree of chewing function, allowing most patients to enjoy a varied, normal diet with confidence.

What is the difference between full and partial dentures?

Full dentures replace an entire arch of missing teeth and rest on the gum ridge. Partial dentures are used when some natural teeth remain, filling the gaps with replacement teeth supported by a framework that clasps onto your existing teeth. Your dentist will recommend the most appropriate option based on the number and position of your missing teeth.

What are implant-retained dentures?

Implant-retained dentures are secured in place using dental implants placed in the jawbone, providing a significantly more stable and comfortable fit than conventional removable dentures. They eliminate movement during eating and speaking, and can greatly improve confidence and quality of life for suitable patients.

How do I care for my dentures?

Dentures should be removed nightly, cleaned thoroughly with a soft brush and denture cleaning solution, and soaked in water or a denture cleanser overnight. Your remaining gums and any natural teeth should be cleaned twice daily as normal. Your dentist will provide full aftercare guidance at your fitting appointment.

Do you offer NHS dentures?

We are a private dental practice and do not offer NHS treatment. However, we offer 0% finance over 12–60 months to make high-quality custom dentures as accessible as possible.
